Have town officials seen the FEMA preliminary working maps? Have they read FEMA's advice against any earth-moving activity along the dunes, including temporarily moving a sand dune, then replacing it after construction? FEMA clearly states that this should not be permitted. FEMA also strongly advises that the removal or cutting of any vegetation on the dunes should not be allowed. Yet, officials say public safety is the driving factor for the proposed, public access project. Maybe they should consider that FEMA's advice is based on the public safety of the town!
