Why do some elected officials get to take home municipal vehicle

North Wildwood - Why do some elected officials get to take home municipal vehicles at taxpayers' expense? They should drive their own cars, get reimbursed for mileage, and be required to keep a log of official business. How can they get cars, yet volunteer firefighters, called out at all hours of the day and night, use their private vehicles? These must be kept in good repair at their own expense. I'd rather it be the other way around.
