Wildwood - Yes, there are certainly many people who would volunteer to do police work. It is not as golden and respected as believed. That is the whole point. Most people have no idea what any public safety position is like except for what they see on TV and accusations made by criminals. Do not be so naive to think that people would not walk with a swagger from authority and legally carry a firearm to force others to behave the way they want them to. Authority and perceived power is very attractive. The truth may be totally different, but folks do not know until put in such positions.
