Why can't Wildwood be like Avalon and Cape May?

Wildwood - Why can't Wildwood be like Avalon and Cape May? We share the same beaches and have many great restaurants, etc. Our home prices are nowhere near the same as these other areas. We have too many abandoned houses and rundown, Section 8 housing. Pacific Ave. is a disgrace. No one wants to invest there because of the older, terrible-looking buildings, lack of pride and constant flooding issues. Knock them all down and rebuild!
