What is going on with the huge lakes they created on the Wildwoo

Wildwood - What is going on with the huge lakes they created on the Wildwood beaches near the outfalls? Bad enough you have to walk three blocks to get to the water, but now another half block to get around a lake. Don't think all that stagnant water is safe. NJDEP (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection) needs to investigate.
