Wildwood - There will never be a consolidation of the Wildwoods because they employ mostly local residents of the island, a resort island with very limited year-round employment with benefits and a public employee pension. The tax base that pays for the services are 80 percent paid for by out of town owners, which is ideal when you want to spend funds on controversial items with minimal flak at the voting booth and can one imagine being the mayor and have to lay off your own residents?
