Wildwood - There was an actual structure fire in Wildwood. Sad news for the owner of the property, but the other news is how it was put out. The Herald reported six to eight fire companies responded, including the paid departments in the Wildwoods, of which there are two. The fire was primarily controlled by volunteers on the island as well as those who came to help. So, tell me again why Wildwood must spend $1.7 million on wages for a paid fire department that only took in $450,000 in related fees? Fires are put out through collaboration, not salaries.
Moderator's Note:
Initial reports indicated that six to eight fire companies responded. It was later announced in a release that units operating on scene were Wildwood City FD, North Wildwood FD, Wildwood Crest FD, West Wildwood FD and Rio Grande FD. Rio Grande EMS was also on scene.
