Wildwood - There are two things that we should keep in mind about the recent Academy Award controversy. First of all, African Americans make up about 13% of our population in the U.S. It is reasonable that they be represented in 13% of movie roles. The Academy Award nominations are decided upon by the members of the Academy; white, black, Asian and various other aboriginal ethnicities throughout the world. If they didn't really like any work by African American artists this year, that is not a racial matter. No Samoans or Native Americans were nominated this year either. Sensitivity works both ways.
