Wildwood - A recent Wildwood/NW spout is typical of the uninformed, "I call upon the City of Wildwood leaders to cut the paid fire department to the bone, using the volunteers instead of paying high salaries and allowing them to take vacations.." I am sure the spouter is not a volunteer firefighter, nor will he/she ever volunteer. The reason there are so many career firefighters are there are so few volunteers. Volunteers must put in hundreds of training hours free, in addition to waking up in the middle of the night to risk their lives free. Either join up or hush up. We need all firefighters.
