Wildwood - A recent spout questioned the increase of car stops in Wildwood. As a retired officer, I can explain. Car stops are easy and are a reflection of poor leadership. Proactive investigations by patrol officers in areas and neighborhoods are encouraged at the supervisory level of a department. When a department is led by management that spent an entire career studying for promotional exams, there is no knowledge of what is needed to conduct quality and meaningful investigations. This is why Rio Grande Ave. is lined with patrol cars and Pacific Ave. is lined with drug dealers on bikes.
