Wildwood - People continually, without evidence, post comments saying this shutdown saved lives. Or they'll post "imagine how many lives were saved" by the shutdown. I'm not sure. According to a Reuters article (April 28) screenings of illnesses have plummeted. For cholesterol, diabetes and cancer, screenings have dropped 67%, 65% and 68% respectively. Usually 140k Americans are diagnosed with cancer monthly in America, magically that number has dropped. Chemotherapy sessions have plummeted. Not to mention many cardiac related procedures deemed not urgent. So did we really save lives? I'm not sure.
