Wildwood - Monthly police reports do not accurately reflect fire dept. stats. Police will code a burnt food incident generating a smoke detector call as a "false alarm" when in fact the detector did its job. The fire dept. uses a set of reporting codes required by the state and federal fire report system. What stats do not show is how many times a rapid response with on-duty personnel have held damage to a minor incident that is not newsworthy. Each response requires a report (both for police and fire) yet people feel each agency is padding their stats. Both services are here for the public when needed.
