There are already strong gun control laws. They have failed to stem gun violence. Any further measures would only serve to disarm the good guys. Bad guys don't care if they are breaking the law, any law, be it unlawful possession of a firearm, rape or murder. More laws won't change anything. Restoring public morality, tackling mental illness head on and strict punishment for violating existing laws are some things which may help. I have seen too many people killed by illegal firearms to drink that Kool-aid.
