School taxes should be equally distributed on a per-pupil basis. As important as education is, why is this one of the few things that tax revenue isn't pooled for? The current system ensures that poor districts stay poor and the affluent stay affluent. On a per-head basis, at least there's a little bit of equality. The way it is now, in effect, school taxes are basically a tuition. Of course, a per-pupil basis would also mean uniform salary and benefits for teachers for a given amount of experience. Also, the county should go to single, county-wide district to eliminate duplicity.
