Pine Island Glacier has passed the tipping point. Warm ocean currents are melting it at a fast rate, and predicted to raise the ocean by 10 to 16 feet, or three to five meters, as reported on Yahoo's home page. The future of the barrier islands is bleak, as they all will be under water sooner than predicted.
