A lot is being said about doctors over-prescribing opioid pain killers as an excuse for the spate of opioid addiction. There are many cases where that is true, but let's be realistic and look at the thousands of young people who are addicted in this manner who were never prescribed pain killers. Alcohol, marijuana, heroin, etc., have a strong, common thread. Some folks just want to get high. Opioids, like crack cocaine, are just extremely addictive. Addicts can't blame doctors for every addict, or even a substantial percentage. Stop making excuses for substance abuse and deal with it.
