I picked up a free copy of the Herald from a local drugstore. While breezing through it I noticed that most of its content was paid advertisements for local businesses, a few op-eds, paid classifieds, a fishing report and Spout Offs along with a few other items. There is very little real indepth journalism going on here, so why should people be charged for a yearly online subscription? Pre pandemic people were permitted several free articles before being asked to purchase a subscription. Seems like greed to me, aren't those other advertising papers free?
Moderator's Note: I hope that next time you will do more than "breeze" through and notice that we actually do a good bit more than you noticed. It isn't greedy to want to pay employees, print costs and make a reasonable profit. Greed is also wanting to get something without paying for it. We hope you will consider further and find something worth subscribing for. Thanks for your comments.
