Wildwood

I don't understand Wildwood's tax roll problem. From 2001 through 2008, they would allow motel's that paid $10K-$15K in property taxes to be demolished. In it's place, the city allowed 10 to 20 town homes to be built, resulting in an additional $40K-$50K in property taxes for the same property site. Multiply this times the 30+ motels that were demolished and one needs to ask, what happened to the extra property taxes that were gained during the development years? Please don't tell us it went to additional employees, salaries and benefits, because the winter population remained flat.
