Hiring six new police officers using a $750,000 COPS grant is commendable and perhaps needed in Wildwood. However, the Troiano administration fails to tell Wildwood taxpayers the tax impact when the grant runs out. Taxpayers will see an increase in their property taxes. Surprisingly, mayor and commissioners did not address the future tax consequences of the hiring. Although I applaud the hiring, the taxpayers would like to hear the mayor explain what will be done to mitigate the future tax bill when the grant runs out.
