A fellow remarked to one of my spouts, "Our military is better than it was in 2001, our detection tools are way better, and Osama bin Laden has been dispatched to enjoy the company of his 72 Virginians." Our military is in deplorable condition, and a recent RAND study showed that our existing forces could not successfully fight a two-front war. Our Navy and Air Force are severely depleted. Since 2010, nearly every military program not canceled has been delayed or shrunken in some way. These are cited in reputable publications.
