Wildwood Crest - The law requiring cars to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks needs to be changed back to yield for pedestrians. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian fatalities have increased from 11 percent to 14 percent of total fatalities from 2004 to 2013. This new law is not working because pedestrians have become more aggressive and are walking out in front of cars with the expectation the car will stop. It is easier for a pedestrian to see a car than vice versa since the car is much bigger. While the current law is well meaning it needs to be repealed.
