Wildwood Crest - Fox News commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano claimed that the British intelligence agency GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) was illegally used by Obama to wiretap Trump Tower. Sean Spicer cited this as a source of proof at a press briefing to support Trump's allegation. Members of U.S. Congress involved with investigations reviewing Trump's allegations are on record that they have not seen nor have been presented any evidence of wiretapping or surveillance. Britain is now outraged at this incendiary statement, they demand an apology, and intelligence sharing may now be at risk.
Moderator's Note:
A CNN article March 17 states, "The White House has apologized to the British government after alleging that a UK intelligence agency spied on President Donald Trump at the behest of former President Barack Obama. ... 'Mr. Spicer and Gen. McMaster explained that Mr. Spicer was simply pointing to public reports, not endorsing any specific story,' one official said. ... The Senate Intelligence Committee had said on Thursday it had found no evidence Trump Tower had been under surveillance in 2016, contrary to Trump's previous claims. ... The same day, House Speaker Paul Ryan told CNN in an interview that he also hadn't seen any evidence of a wiretap or a surveillance order against Trump Tower."
