Wildwood Crest - Chief Justice Roberts, in his annual report, spoke of the dangers to this country’s long tradition of judicial independence. But Roberts failed to name their source: Donald Trump. He addressed four activities that threaten the independence of judges on which the rule of law depends: (1) violence, (2) intimidation, (3) disinformation, and (4) threats to defy lawfully entered judgments. The threats that he listed all have their roots in the authoritarian playbook that has always guided Trump and his radical supporters even before Project 2025. He leaves it to his readers to connect the dots.
