They've just spent $200,000 to widen the bike path in the Crest two feet. Why not just remove the "islands" of mulch that sit curbside at the entrance to the beach at each street? Why were these things allowed to be put there in the first place? All they do is take up space. It may be less aesthetically pleasing but would have been more practical and a lot cheaper than having to go back and do it over again. The additional two feet isn't enough of a difference to make it safer, so at some point it will need to be widened even more at a greater cost.
