The NJ Dept. of Education is raising requirements for substitute teachers to have a bachelor's degree rather than the current 60 credits. It logically follows that subs will be paid more. More education for teachers always means more pay in public education. What does it say when there are enough regular teachers out using sick and vacation days that an on-call sub can work every day of the week, all year long? They only have 180 working days, which consist of five 40-50 minute periods, off all summer, seven to 12 days off at Christmas and a week off for spring break. Think of the children.
