I would like to commend Ocean City for not participating in National Night Out this year. As a Wildwood Crest taxpayer, I was very happy to see several years ago that the Crest was dropping this event for the same reason. The location along the beach only caters to visitors and not locals. It has to be a several thousand dollar burden on taxpayers, yet I see for some reason this year that the Crest held the event again. Isn't there a better use of tax dollars, police overtime, etc., than conducting this event that will be mostly attended by tourists seeing free food and drinks?
