Wildwood Crest has always been home to one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. Wide clean, and with that soft, powdery sand. However, this summer I’ve noticed a significant change, particularly in the sand texture and walking conditions, new deeper raking has made walking much harder specially for older folks or those with mobility issues. The sand feels coarser, lumpy, and wet, losing its former soft, powdery texture. Why was this change made? Are there benefits to deeper raking? Can the old raking method be brought back to restore the smooth, Caribbean-like sand we all love
