The budget proposal released by the president this past Friday proposes a 93% cut to State Department international exchange programs for Fiscal Year 2026. If Congress enacts this budget proposal, it would essentially eliminate the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which oversees Summer Work Travel and other Exchange Visitor programs. This would negatively impact our area on a massive scale and would destroy countless businesses that can not operate without this program.
