While the debate rages over whether Crest Memorial should accept tuition students, what it comes down to is if you think shore area schools should continue to exist at all. From Cape May to Long Branch, low enrollment threatens every such school while the classrooms on the mainland continue to get more crowded. Since there's no way to make housing in these communities more affordable, tuition is the only viable path forward. Why not let the free market work its magic and give families the option to pay to save these schools, their traditions and the educational opportunity in our beach towns?
