I don't think the spouter who suggested "thousands of squirrels on tiny treadmills" as a power source for the ferry has a clue. Everyone knows squirrels are susceptible to sea sickness easily. They have tiny stomachs & do not follow good dietary habits. A much better choice would be beavers or even musk rats. Both are much more water tolerant and could handle the Del Bay conditions from the gentle springtime rolling to the rough winter storms. The trick would be finding local beavers or musk rats. Relocating them & their families may make it cost prohibitive. More research is needed.
