Anyone who has driven south of the canal through West Cape May and along New England Road can see how development ruined the beauty, scenery and wildlife habitat that was once there. The landscape is littered with land-use decision failures of Lower Township and West Cape May. The planning boards just let anyone build whatever they want wherever they want, putting the interests of a few builders and landowners ahead of what was best for the area. Some of the best farmland and natural areas are buried under houses that never should've been built.
