Does anybody know why Joseph Will is running for council as an I

Villas - Does anybody know why Joseph Will is running for council as an Independent? I thought he was a Republican. Did he change parties? I hope it is not a tactic to take votes away from someone else. If not, I would like to hear what he is going to do for the township so I can make my decision.
