Responsible shelters want to have people adopting pets who are able to care for the pets in a safe, intelligent and caring way. Just being an animal nut does not automatically qualify anyone for that. And, unfortunately, there may be times that euthanizing an animal is a better outcome than placement in an environment that will only make the animal's life, or the community's, worse.
