I think it is despicable for narcotics officers to arrest children's parents in front of them. If the officers are trying to perpetrate a "scared straight" tactic by arresting the parents in front of the children, what they are really doing is traumatizing the children, who may decide early in life that police can't be trusted or counted on to help. Officers should do their homework to eliminate the trauma factor.
