I recently found out because of a pre-existing condition I am an ideal candidate for the gastric sleeve and my insurance covers it 100%. My gripe with all this is why, when I first found out about this condition, it was never mentioned as an option to me, but instead I was sent to two other doctors for them all to tell me the same thing, and offering little relief besides medication that isn't doing anything. I'm still suffering two years later and this all could have been avoided if given this option in the first place. Insurance is all about money, not the general health of Americans.
