The editor's note about what the elected representatives are doing about the quality of people in the Villas is wrong. Code enforcement has failed miserably over the years, and especially with the current manager and council. For example, at one of the meetings, the manager stated that laws are discretionary. When a community declines, it has a lot to do with landlords not keeping up the properties, so good people show no interest in the area. When I was a kid, the Villas had common people with pride and dignity. The performance of the elected officials does matter.
