Got stopped by a State officer, says, "I pulled you over for you

Upper Township - Got stopped by a State officer, says, "I pulled you over for your inspection sticker. Been a lot of accidents in the area due to people not getting their cars inspected". Husband says, "Not trying to bust your story, but how does not getting my car inspected cause an accident"? Cop says, "You know, the safety checks and all". Husband says, "I hear you but in the State of NJ the only thing they check when doing an inspection is emissions, I'm not causing an accident bc my muffler has a hole in it". I've never seen a face turn red so fast. How does a NJ cop not know how inspections work in NJ?
