Trump and MAGAs who criticize NATO for not aiding the U.S. in its war with Iran are obviously ignorant of the role of NATO. The NATO pact is a defensive pact. It states that NATO countries will come to the aid of a member country if the country is attacked. It does NOT state that NATO will assist a member country if that country attacks a country - such as Iran. Doing so would be a violation of the pact.
