I'm old enough to remember an anti-littering TV ad featuring a Native American in traditional attire looking over a trash littered landscape as a tear rolled down his cheek. I feel that same sadness when I see a careless carpet of cigarette butts around a bay bench or litter tossed out of a passing cars. The most shocking example of people not caring is the trash in front of CVS in Villas. A mess appears to be expanding.Trash on the ground sends the message, "okay to toss stuff here" to thoughtless litterers. An hour with a rake and trash bag would go a long way to stop this trend.
