Gov. Christie says raising the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour is a radical idea. What has become acceptable is government letting people live in poverty. N.J.'s poverty level hourly wage for one adult and one child is $7 an hour. Our current minimum wage is $8.38 an hour. A living wage for one adult with one child is $29.58.
