To our Council and Police: Serving is a choice to be a civil servant, not a lifetime pass to demand extra respect. True service is humble; it doesn't use a uniform as a shield to look down on the residents you chose to serve. You aren't commanders or superiors, and to most of us, you never were. You are our representatives. We don’t owe you a salute; you owe us transparency. Remember your oath: it was to the Constitution and the people, not your own egos. Real leaders earn respect through their actions today, not by resting on ranks they hold or held years ago. Work for us.
