The school choice program defers local school taxes from other districts to the choice district. I applied for my child to go to Crest Memorial as a choice student. The district called and asked if I would be willing to pay tuition instead. I can not afford to pay tuition, if that was an option I would choose private school. It’s a shame this tiny school district has some of the highest local taxes and lowest student numbers, and they are isolating themselves like this. This is the beginning of the end for the district. I see many of these small schools merging or closing entirely. Bummer.
