The president can say a war is won, when it clearly isn’t. He can tell people the economy is great when prices never stop going up. What he can’t do is prevent the sinking feeling so many families encounter at the end of the month when the dollars in the bank account don’t cover the bills on the table. Or the way it feels to watch politicians and their families getting rich while inflation eats away at working class incomes.
