The German energy company RWE will be paid $1.22bn by the US government to give up its offshore wind leases and redirect funds towards fossil fuel investments. This is the 5th deal the Trump administration has struck with energy companies, offering payouts in exchange for abandoning renewable energy projects and redirecting investment towards fossil fuels. Trump has now spent almost $4bn of our taxpayer money killing offshore wind projects. They've also spent up to $1.1bn to boost coal.
