Swainton - Voters voted for the county's open space preservation fund in 1989 thinking the money would be used to preserve open space. Voters never intended the program to fund bike paths, piers, athletic fields, monuments, etc. Open space funds should be used only to protect open space from development. Saving our last farmlands and wooded areas from housing developments and stores is the only thing the county freeholders should use our open space taxes for. The freeholders should save up open space funds to buy and preserve big pieces of land.
