The Sea Isle City spouter defending tolls and beach tags is dead wrong. No one is saying that beaches and roads don't have to be paid for. However, tolls are the most inefficient way to fund roads. So much of toll revenue goes towards toll collection and enforcement itself. Raising the gas tax makes much more sense and is a cheaper way to fund highways. As for beaches, they do need lifeguards and to be cleaned, but beach towns can fund that out of their own budget rather than by ripping off tourists with beach tags. Beach towns who want tourists should pay for beach expenses themselves.
