The National Flood Insurance should be eliminated and those that live near water should get insurance from private insurers and pay the rates that reflect the real risk. The NFI just encourages people to live near water. Only marinas and commercial fishing businesses that have to be near water should get a discount for flood insurance. Ending National Flood Insurance would end rewarding people for living in high flood risk areas.
