Stone Harbor - Recently, my wife and I were prohibited from bike riding to the Point, an activity we've done for the past 30 years. It was explained to us by a Wetlands employee that bike riding would disturb the piping plovers. While I understand the plight of this endangered bird, I'm wondering if the Wetlands folks understand that these birds breed in March/April timeframe and that the chicks hatch in May. Perhaps eliminating the skunks and feral cats that prey on plover eggs would be a more useful activity than denying two senior citizens some exercise!
