According to the freeholder board, reported in the Herald March 30, page A11, the county is paying $1.57 per meal for inmates and $1.97 per meal for staff. It's impossible to serve, even for a select few, prime rib for $1.97. Did this include a baked potato and sour cream, string bean almondine and peach cobbler for dessert? Do the math - impossible. Unless you take money from the inmate and officer food budget to accomplish this. In other states, this would be considered fraud. Bon appetite.
