Stone Harbor - Jail administrators are eating prime rib and other savory food on the taxpayers' dime. According to the freeholder board, reported in the Herald March 30, page A11, the county is paying $1.57 per meal for inmates and $1.97 per meal for staff. It's impossible to serve, even for a select few, prime rib for $1.97. Did this include a baked potato and sour cream, string bean almondine and peach cobbler for dessert? Do the math - impossible. Unless you take money from the inmate and officer food budget to accomplish this. In other states, this would be considered fraud. Bon appetite.
