Stone Harbor - The government in Cape May County is not effective because there are no checks and balances. Politics aside, you need one party to keep an eye on the other party. This matters because a huge part of our property taxes go to the county. The county budget has exploded, and in my opinion, there is a tremendous amount of waste. Over $120 million is now spent yearly by the Cape May County freeholders, all the same party, and we pay for every dollar with our property taxes!
